The first total solar eclipse touching the continental United States since 1979 touches down on the Oregon coast between Lincoln City and Newport at 10:15 a.m on August 21, 2017 and races east to ground zero in Madras and waiting solar eclipse watchers from around the world.
This unique and stunning scenic helicopter flight was created for the true adventure seeker. You and two lucky guests will lift off at Solarfest in Madras, Oregon and travel west over Lake Billy Chinook to our snowcapped Three Sisters Mountains in the distance. Flying at 10,000 feet we will take you in and around these beautiful ancient volcanic cinder-cones. Off to the left you will see Mt. Jefferson and even Mt. St Helens and to the right, Broken Top Mountain, the only complex stratovolcano visible in the US. These mountain are part of the very active Ring of Fire Volcano systems in the Pacific. From there we will fly down to the scenic Lake Billy Chinook take time to savor the high desert and deep cliffs that form this lake, then we follow the outflow to the Deschutes River gorge system carved from lava flows over 100,000 years.
Your private helicopter tour will end with a quick look at Solarfest below and a once-in-a-lifetime addition to the 2017 solar eclipse in Central Oregon. Tours can be combined to fly more than one helicopter at a time for larger groups.
