Each year from July through September chance forest fires from as far away as Alaska and Canada can send high and low altitude smoke into Central Oregon. Some years are more smokey than others, but for Bend residents and visitors alike, the sunsets these smoke filled afternoons bring fill the sky with golden pink hues and candy floss atmospherics in the Case Range that are best experienced from the air.
The Cascades are a unique part of the Pacific Ocean’s Ring of Fire, the ring of volcanoes and associated mountains around the Pacific Ocean. In fact all of the eruptions in the contiguous United States over the last 200 years have been from Cascade volcanoes. While catching the perfect sunset is our focus on this scenic helicopter tour, we’ll also highlight the Three Sisters, Broken Top, and a wide variety of volcanic mountain terrain bathed with slanting rays of golden sun.
