Bend, Oregon is Filled With Fun Winter Activities and Tours
Go Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding at Mt Bachelor
Winter is here in Bend and visitors from Portland, Seattle and the Bay Area are discovering winter tours and activities to suit every taste and ability. Let’s play!
Bend’s Mt. Bachelor is known for its dry snow along with having a long ski season running November through May. It’s the largest ski resort in the state of Oregon and the second largest single-mountain ski resort in the U.S. (behind Vail) and the sixth largest of all ski resorts in the nation. Mt. Bachelor also offers snowshoeing with a forest ranger and downhill tubing for the non-skiers or non-snowboarders. There are several lodges for warming up and grabbing a bite in, as well as the new Cloud Chaser lift opening more access to terrain.
Take a Scenic Helicopter Flight Over Mt Bachelor and Cascades
While Broken Top Mt is our local volcanic star this private and unique helicopter tour will also highlight Mt. Bachelor, one of the largest ski resorts in the U.S. On this tour you’ll swing over the mountain and watch skiers racing down the 3,600 acres of terrain. The Cascade Range is still active to this day. Mt. St. Helens (which you can see on most flights) to our North remains hot after a devastating and well known eruption in 1980.
Flying over the summits you’ll be treated to an eye candy helicopter view of the Cascade Mountain chain stretching from north to south and including Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Washington, North Sister, Middle Sister and South Sister.
The Helicopter Tour
Our Winter Wonderland Tours depart from our private heliport in Bend, Oregon. This scenic helicopter tour includes aerial views of the City of Bend, the Old Mill District and the Deschutes River as well as the spectacular snow-capped Cascade range with it’s soaring volcanic peaks. The winter and spring tour is hosted aboard one of our comfortable and air-conditioned helicopters complete with wraparound windows. These aircraft are designed for helicopter sightseeing and feature a nearly 180 degree field of view, clear passenger to pilot communications.
